Layoffs 2010

  • The hospital is giving notice of layoffs to approx 40 nurses this week
  • The reassignments from 2009 are being reversed on paper and we will know soon where there will be displacement and retirement packages from that round (The arbitrator ruled that the hospital must follow our contract layoff language - so their actions of 2009 must be reversed)
  • The nurses receiving layoff notices this week should will not be reviewed until we have dealt with the 2009 affects
  • ONA will be at the HR table with each and every nurse affected.  These appointments will be booked mutually and Pat MacDonald +/or Linda Castle will attend the meetings to review your contract options

Having a current resume is often helpful if you are going to be displacing a junior nurse.  We will keep you informed.
